Privacy policy

What ruah map does with your data. Short version, it runs on your machine and collects nothing.

Last updated: October 5, 2026. Applies to the ruah map plugin for Claude Code (the /ruah:map skill and the /ruah mod), published by ruah-dev at github.com/ruah-dev/ruah-map.

Summary

ruah map runs locally. ruah-dev does not collect, receive or store any data from you or your repositories. The plugin has no telemetry, no analytics, no accounts and no servers of its own.

What runs on your machine

  • The plugin runs two bundled python3 scripts (scan.py and render.py) on your computer. They read the repository you choose to map and write their output only to <repo>/.ruah/, which ignores itself in git.
  • The scanner never opens .env files, credentials, *.tfstate files or private keys. From .env.example-style files it reads key names only.
  • The /ruah mod stores one setting in the plugin's local store: where you last put the map (band or pane). It also reads the app's light or dark theme to color the map.

Network calls

Neither the plugin nor the mod makes network calls of its own. Nothing is sent to ruah-dev or to any third party by ruah map.

There are three cases where data leaves your machine, each because of a tool you already use and choose to invoke:

  • Claude (Anthropic). When you run /ruah:map, Claude reads the scan summary and the files it needs inside your Claude Code session, like any other task. That content is processed by Anthropic under the terms and privacy policy that cover your Claude account. ruah map does not change or extend that processing.
  • Artifacts. If you ask for the map as a claude.ai Artifact, Claude publishes it privately to your own claude.ai account. It is visible only to you unless you share it.
  • Live mode. /ruah:map live aws|gcp|azure|k8s runs only when you ask for it. It uses the cloud CLI already installed and signed in on your machine (aws, gcloud, az or kubectl) to make read-only list/describe calls to your own cloud account. It shows you which account will be read and waits for your yes first, and Claude Code asks before each call. ruah never reads, prints or stores credential files or tokens.

The standalone HTML map

The optional .ruah/architecture.html file loads the cytoscape and ELK JavaScript libraries from cdnjs.cloudflare.com and cdn.jsdelivr.net when you open it in a browser. Those CDNs receive the ordinary request data any web page load sends (such as your IP address and user agent). The map's content stays in the file and is not sent to them.

Children

ruah map is a developer tool and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. The history is public in the ruah-website repository.
